Nurses save lives in a variety of conflic zones; Organizing a mass vaccination intiative for measles or triaging an influx of displaced people fleeing conflict, also work a lot with paediatrics, infectious disease, Emergency room, ICU, obstetrics, nutrition or operating theatre department.
Some of the responsibilities can be :
Planning and organising all nursing related activities (IPD, OPD, maternity, nutrition, etc.) When needed, being responsible for scheduling duty rosters, shifts and on call of nursing staff.
Coordinating and supervising the implementation of the legal therapeutic protocols, procedures and standards, depending on project objectives (PPTCT, PEP, VCT, IEC, SGBV, MH services, etc.) and providing technical support when needed.
Supervising the nutritional activities in order to ensure that therapeutic food is provided regularly and that it complies with quality and quantity standards
Ensuring all administrative procedures and documents (individual patient’s card and registration book, discharge paper, transfer paper, etc.) and existing data management tools are used correctly
Collaborate with the Pharmacist and Medco, supervising the distribution (according to medical prescriptions) and pharmacy activity, preparing new orders when required, supervising expiration terms and consumption patterns, in order to ensure that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and above minimum safety point.
Requirements
Licensed, registered nurse (RN) with 2 years of working experience
Current experience with direct patient care
Prior training and people management experience is essential
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Diploma and experience is desirable
Available for at least 6 -12 months per each assignment
Role of the anaesthetist:
Carry out pre-operative consultations evaluating the risks of operating in collaboration with the surgeon, providing the patient with appropriate information and deciding the type of anesthetics to be used, in order to ensure the best conditions prior to the surgery.
Carry-out all anaesthesia related activities during surgery to ensure safe, adequate anaesthesia:
Preparing beforehand the drugs, material, and equipment required.
Administering and maintaining anaesthetics following the rules of hygiene and asepsis in force.
Monitoring patients throughout the intervention.
Requirements
Valid degree and current license
At least 2 years of post-residency clinical experience in anaesthesia
Training and people management experience highly preferred
Experience in paediatrics, obstetrics, and trauma anaesthesia; as well as spinal and dissociation anaesthesia (e.g. Ketamine)
Willingness to work in unstable environments
Ability to work with limited technical resources e.g. ventilation equipment
Availability of 8 - 12 weeks
MSF needs Midwives to provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
Some of the responsibilities as midwife include :
The reinforcement of the implementation of standardized protocols for pregnancy and delivery care, sexual violence victim care, family planning, prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS, prevention of sexually transmitted disease, abortion care, etc.
organisational aspects (human resource management, pharmacy management, gathering of statistical data, etc), as well as training supervision, evaluation and guidance of team members.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in midwifery
2 years experience as midwife (extensive experience in managing prenatal and post-natal check up, normal delivery, complicated delivery and delivery such as breech, twins and shoulder dystocia, will be a big asset), and at least 1 year of working experience in a tropical context is an asset
Management experience is an asset
Availability for 6 - 12 months for each assignment.
Mental health services play a vital role in many of MSF’s projects around the world. MSF provides mental health and psychosocial support activities in a large variety of contexts, for example:
emergencies (natural and manmade disasters)
protracted/chronic-ongoing crisis
excluded and marginalized populations (survivors of sexual and gender based violence, victims of urban violence, minorities, migrants, etc.)
integration with medical care (HIV/AIDS, TB, haemorrhagic fever, etc.)
Most of the programmes consists of both clinical (individual and groups) and community-based component and require an integrated medical-psychological-social approach.
Role of Mental Health Specialist / Psychologist:
Managing overall mental health programme.
Leading the program for people being treated for HIV/AIDS and/or Tuberculosis, plan support activities for people affected by emergencies (such as armed conflict or natural disasters), implement a support program for victims of sexual violence or coordinate a program for migrant population. Most of the programs consists of both clinical (individual and groups) and community-based components and require an integrated medical - psychological - social approach.
Coordinating and supervising the different mental health and psychosocial support activities.
Recruiting, train and supervise local professionals who carry out the mental health and psychosocial support interventions in health facilities and in the community.
Requirements
Masters in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
Having 2 years of clinical experience to adults/ children
Registered in a recognized professional body
Desirable experience in training/ supervision and clinical practice in post-traumatic stress, sexual violence, HIV/ AIDS or any other chronic disease
Experience in either post-traumatic stress disorder or trauma and related areas
Preferably experiences in international working area with various populations and cultures
Availability for 6 - 12 months for each assignment
Responsible for the coordination and implementation of awareness-raising and educational campaigns to support the medical activities. The Health Promoter is therefore part of the medical team. The campaign can address different themes in emergency projects (vaccination campaigns, awareness-raising on malnutrition or cholera) or in projects that focus on one medical issue (AIDS, MDRTB, malaria, etc)
Role of Health Promoter
Assessing knowledge of the target gorup on a health risk and analysing the context (local culture, traditions, habits, health perception) to adapt health activities and support the social mapping (villages, populations, actors).
Assessing, developing and adapting HP materials according to the needs of the project. Ensuring content and format have been pre-tested with target groups in order to ensure the adequency, relevance, full understanding of the messages.
Liaising with other relevant actors (national and INGO, authorities), also involved in prevention activities, analysing interventions and building cooperative relationships and advocacy, in order to enhance the influence of the campaigns and messages and to improve awareness among the targeted population.
Requirements
Master in Social Science, Master in Public Health orientation Health Promotion, Master in Community Health (Nursing Diploma in Community Health)
Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience (working in health promotion/ education, prevention, community mobilitsation, etc)
IT knowledge, basic MS Windows environment is a must.
Team management and people management experiences is a must; good communication skills, constructive mindset, creative, autonomous, able to work under pressure, strong analytical, strategical, supervision and monitoring skills
Previous work with and NGO is an added value

Responsible for the management of medicines, medical supplies and medical equipment, processing orders, inventory, consumption follow-up, and distribution of quality-assured medicine to clinics and hospitals supported by MSF. Monitoring usage of pharmaceutical supplies and promotes its optimal use.
Framed in the Medical Department, will work with a multidisciplinary approach to ensure quality of care to the beneficiaries.
Close collaboration with the Supply Chain and Logistic Teams.
Some of the responsibiities can be :
Ensuring storage, stock management and supply processes, as well as hygiene and security procedures, tools, and protocols (controlling pests and rodents), implementing appropriate quality controls and records, in order to ensure good storage conditions (temperatures, humidity and light exposure) and availability of drugs and medical material, according to MSF protocols, national regulations and in cooperation with the logistics department.
Coordinating the delivery, reception and recording of international and local orders, in close coordination with the logistics department, updating stock files and informing line managers on their status (shortfalls, over-stocking, expiry dates), in order to permanently ensure security stock levels and ensure efficient management of stock.
Supervising orders of medical and drug material in order to ensure an efficient and appropriate consumption pattern under budget constraints.
Supervising the supply of drugs to patients, according to medical prescriptions, informing them on consumption patterns and keeping conditions in order to ensure their therapeutic progression
Ensuring efficient supply to other pharmacies managed/supported by MSF according to orders and stocks, and using cold chain when needed. Monitoring and analysing orders of depending pharmacies in order to avoid ruptures of stock or having expired drugs.
Supervising, with the HR department, the associated processes (sizing, staff shifts, recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal/external communication) of the pharmaceutical team and the nursing staff, in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required and to improve their dispensing capabilities.
Recording all items received and issued in computer (Isystock) and reporting on drug consumptions and medical equipment dispensed according to protocols, informing on unusual patterns as well as forecasting future needs, in order to rationalise the budget and to ensure availability.
Assisting in training of nursing staff regarding dispensing of drugs and their side effects
Requirements
Degree in Pharmacy
Registered in a recognized professional body
Minimum 2 years dispensing and stock managing experience, preferably in hospital setting
Good knowledge of software (Microsoft excel, Microsoft word)
Availability of at least 6 – 12 months per each assignment.
Knowledge on TB, HIV/AIDS is added value
Prior training and people management experience is essential
Prior experience in clinical trials desirable
Assessing, implementing and maintaining the epidemiological surveillance systems/monitoring (if needed) according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to contribute to appropriate evidence-based decision making using well managed health data in outbreak and emergency MSF programmes.
Defining, coordinating and monitoring the epidemiological activities, ensuring the development of appropriate methodology and the quality of studies according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to identify risk factors for diseases and to determine the optimal treatment approaches to clinical practice and the preventive medicine to be used in the medical projects.
Role of the Epidemiologist :
As an epidemiologist you can be employed in the field of programme monitoring and evaluation, and/ or field epidemiology.
In the field of monitoring you will assure that relevant and validated programme data are available. You will assure that indicators are debated within the medical team and inform operational decision. In addition, you’ll assure that data collection and analysis adapt when project activities are re-oriented.
In the field of evaluation you will assess the performance of projects. You will provide recommendations for operational research (mostly using programme data, less frequent are prospective studies) to evaluate new tools (drugs, lab tests, …) or new operational strategies.
In the field of field epidemiology you will be responsible for initial assessments when outbreaks are suspected, and you will assure epidemiological surveillance /monitoring systems are in place to inform operational decision making during outbreaks and other emergency programmes. When indicated, you will be involved in surveys to orient operational decisions.
Requirements
Master in Public Health with relevant professional experience in epidemiology or an MSC in epidemiology
Relevant professional experiences of at least 2 years is mandatory
Proven practical skills in design, implementation and evaluation of surveys, and in quantitative/ qualitative research methods.
Experience with relevant software packages
Outbreak investigation / management experience (e.g. cholera) is an asset.
Experience with tropical medicine and infectious diseases is desirable.
